This is a complete 8-line brake hydraulic pressure proportioning valve with an integrated brake failure warning switch contact. It is a direct-fit replacement for Volvo 240 series vehicles without ABS, and plays a crucial role in maintaining balanced brake pressure between the front and rear systems.

The internal pressure-sensing switch will trigger the brake warning light on your dash if it detects an imbalance in hydraulic pressure — a critical safety feature that alerts you to a brake system fault.

If you're experiencing a persistent brake warning light or unbalanced braking, the proportioning valve on your car is doing its job. Please inspect your brake calipers, brake lines, and hoses.
There are pressure-reducing valves on your Volvo 240, located next to the main fuel pump under the car. There are 2 of them, they can be easily identified by following the brake lines from the rear calipers. Please inspect the valves for decay and possible leaks
